Expresso Street

Jazzy chords led to jazzy lyrics... smoke-filled bars... but why expresso street? Maybe a 50s vibe - who knows... (and yes, I know, it's really espresso...poetic licence!)

words and music by Martin Stirrup 2004 - originally on Salawetu

I was never really happy with the sound level and quality of the lead riff on the original so I rerecorded that part and remixed the whole thing in line with 'All is Vanity' practice.

Much improved, I feel...

Expresso street

Emaj7 When I dream of flying
Em7b5 And then I wake up crying
A6 Still I’m feeling high on A11 you
Emaj7 And you watch me falling
Em7b5 Yes I know you’re stalling
A6 But still I’m calling E you

Is it fear or favour
Wait or waiver
Take the time to savour you
Just the thought of glancing
Or the thrill of chancing
Full on romancing you

A When I walk you down Am7 expresso street
D The evening comes a.. Dm7 …live
A Gonna walk you down Am7 expresso street
D Take you down to some A11 dim and dingy B dive G D

Is it make or taking
Sleep or waking
Fine or faking you?
If you’re feeling willing
We could make a killing
Just the thought is thrilling too

When I walk you down expresso street
The evening comes alive
Gonna walk you down expresso street
Take you down to some dim and dingy dive

Are you plain or fancy
Bill or Nancy
You can’t hide I can see you
So come on don’t falter
Take wine not water
Won’t do a thing to alter you
